Tom Aldred is TCCRI’s Executive Director. He grew up in the United Kingdom and holds a Bachelor of Science in Politics and Economics and a Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of Bath.

He has extensive policy experience, with a particular focus on state fiscal, budget, and regulatory issues. He serves as a resource to members of the legislature and regularly provides policy advice and guidance to legislators and other officeholders. Most notably he served as a policy adviser to Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s successful gubernatorial campaigns in 2014 and 2018. His opinion editorials and commentaries have been published in a variety of media outlets, including the Austin American-Statesman, the Dallas Morning News, the Houston Chronicle, the Times of London, and the Daily Telegraph. He and his wife Helen and their two sons live in northwest Austin, where they attend Austin Baptist Church.
