Representative Phil King Receives TCCRI Courageous Conservative Leadership Award

AUSTIN, TX – The Texas Conservative Coalition Research Institute (TCCRI) is pleased to announce that State Representative Phil King (R-Weatherford) has received the organization’s prestigious Courageous Conservative Leadership Award. A long-time TCCRI Board member, Representative King has been involved with the organization for over a decade.

Representative King was presented with his award at TCCRI’s annual summer conference meeting. “It is an honor to receive this award,” said Rep. King. “Fundamentally, good government is about bringing all people to the realization that the common good is grounded in faith and liberty. The policies we advance must reflect a healthy respect for those two things through limited government, free markets and federalism. I am honored to receive this award and to be a leader in TCCRI.”

Phil King currently chairs the Texas House Select Committee on State and Federal Power and Responsibility. He also serves on the House Committee on Energy Resources and the House Committee on Environmental Regulation. He is a past chairman of the House Committee on Regulated Industries where he was instrumental in overseeing Texas’ transition to competitive electric and telecommunications markets.

“Phil King is a man of strong character and virtue,” said TCCRI Board Vice President and State Representative Geanie Morrison (R-Victoria). “He epitomizes a blend of conservative principle and common sense governance, and he’s a good friend. Phil is a true leader in every sense of the word. He is smart, he is instinctively conservative, and he is a tireless fighter for what is right and good for our great state.”

Added fellow TCCRI Board member State Senator Kelly Hancock (R-North Richland Hills): “I’ve served with Phil King in the Texas House, and as a Board Member of TCCRI. He is a courageous conservative, dedicated to the common good of all Texans, representing the best interests of his constituents. Of our public sector Board members, he is among the longest-serving, and he consistently adds value to this organization.”

Phil is a native Texan, a graduate of Dallas Baptist University, and received his law degree from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth. A former captain in the Fort Worth Police Department, Phil is a proud husband, father, and grandfather. He resides in Weatherford, Texas with his wife Terry.
